Fiona Powell

fiona powell In 1995 Fiona founded Her Business magazine, the critically acclaimed publication for women business owners and entrepreneurs. She went on to launch the annual Her Business Awards, and Her Business networks around the country, the Her Business Club – including mastermind groups , the Her Business Who’s Who and the inaugural National Women in Business Week with Her Business Conferences.

Her Business won many awards and was featured on national TV and in national print media and Fiona was recognised as the MPA Business Editor of the Year in 2001 and for her Outstanding Achievement of Women in Business in 2004.

In 2004 Fiona sold Her Business Group, and continued publishing, coaching, writing and working with networking groups.

In 2006 she founded the online community entrepreneurette and then flokka, the blog network in 2008, after a decade and a half in magazine publishing.

In 2009 by popular demand she formally created Social Media Think as she was already informally assisting and training businesses with their social media and business blogging.

A typical ‘maven’ she loves to share what she’s learning, researching and implementing – as well as what’s working for her clients, her students and her network members in the worlds of social media and business in general.

In 2010 Ferb Media Group was created to encompass the many facets of the company.

Fiona divides her time between Auckland and a small island in the Hauraki Gulf in New Zealand with her partner and West Highland Terrier Georgie. She mentors a young woman through the YWCA Future Leaders Programme and is currently studying part-time for a Diploma in Digital Film. Fiona enjoys yoga, ceroc dancing, films, great coffee and wine – and blogging.
